Long time Pontchartrain Astronomy Society member and officer, Ron Marcella, passed away this past Saturday morning, October 21st, at the age of 81. Ron was President of the PAS in 1996 and 1997. He had been Treasurer in 1990 and 1991. For many years he was our SPMOS Observing Site Manager and he was also a LifeTime member of the PAS. He was awarded this honor due to his many contributions to the club as well as for his 25 plus years of PAS membership.
Ron's wife, Norma, asked fellow PAS member, Bill Davis, to convey her appreciation for the condolences expressed in their last email exchange about Ron's death. Services will be for family only. Norma knows the esteem in which so many of us held Ron. She told Bill that the greatest moment in his life was the total eclipse of 2017 which he witnessed in Missouri with three other club members (Jerry LaBauve, John Martinez and Barry Simon). Each of us have our own memories of Ron that will live on.
