Pretty fast I would say! At this point, just about 6 weeks out from the 2024 Deep South Star Gaze at White Horse, we had 7 registrations in house. At the same point, about 6 weeks out from the 2025 Deep South Star Gaze, we have 18 but with at least another 10 if not more registrations in the mail with email verification that "the check is in the mail". So let's call it 30. That is about 400% more than last year!
While we do have 23 private rooms with complete bathrooms available to us, I suspect that we will come close to having all of those rooms spoken for before the start of the Deep South on November 18th. So the axiom "If you snooze, you lose!" applies here.
To date I have received no registrations for people wanting bunk space in a cottage. Note the cottages are basically bunk houses. Each has about 10 beds on each side of the 3 cottages and each side does have a bathroom with shower. The bunks are just that bunks, you have to bring your own linens or sleeping bag with pillow for your bunk. This is ok for some, but not in the same league as a private room. Consider that. If two people split the cost of a private room the cost is $52.00 per person. If one person opts for a bunk in a cottage your cost is $44 per person, so you save $8 per night but you have to bring your own bedding and you lose privacy. You can bring in an rv or camper for $21 per night, or you can bring in a tent for $10 per night and you can use the bathroom in Barton Hall. Note to that rv/camper staying is dry only. What you bring in (waste) you need to bring out.
